Jeffrey Eakin

Jeff Eakin has devoted his entire career to the financing of business enterprises, with first hand experience on both sides and the middle of debt, equity and change of control transactions. These have included privately-owned and public for-profit companies, not-for-profit corporations and government-owned enterprises covering a wide range of industries.

After serving as an officer on active duty in the United States Army, he began his finance career in Boston as an investment analyst with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, conducting fundamental credit and pricing analysis for that company’s municipal bond portfolio.

He then joined Prescott, Ball & Turben to lead that firm’s entry into the growing hospital finance business, establishing Prescott as a key participant in the Midwest market. Jeff was one of the founders of Picker Financial Group, a joint venture of Picker International and LDI Corporation formed to finance Picker’s diagnostic imaging equipment; of DVI Capital, the wholesale finance division of DVI Financial Services, a leading NYSE medical equipment leasing company; and of Preferred Capital, a highly regarded, private, independent equipment leasing company.

Currently, Jeff provides investment banking services to middle-market companies and on behalf of private equity funds, including senior debt and equity financings, buy-side and sell-side advice, bank loan restructurings and general financial operations.

In addition to these career activities, Jeff served as a Trustee of Health Hill Hospital for Children (now part of the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital) including as Board Chair; as an independent director of International Total Services, a NASDAQ-listed provider of airport security services, as a Boy Scout leader at the pack, troop and council levels and as a mentor for the Youth Opportunities Unlimited high school entrepreneurship program.

He currently serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Instructor in Finance at Lake Erie College; a Board Member of the Entrepreneurship Education Consortium; and is active with the Ohio Venture Association, National Funding Association and Akron ARCHAngels. Jeff is on the Advisory Board of Emprise Partners, a middle-market merchant bank. He is a licensed United States Coast Guard Master (50-Ton) and an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Recent instructor certifications include the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Jeff teaches the Ohio Boating Education Course to the general public. Jeff graduated from Lafayette College with an AB in Economics and from Boston University with an MBA in Finance with Honors.
